Hi Guys,
For those of you using the plug-in downloaded from Mozilla add-ons (as given in the OP):
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7442
Would it be possible to leave a review for the plug-in on the Mozilla site? The plug-in is currently classed as "experimental" and will only be considered for public release once it has some genuine user reviews.
Once it's public, then you won't have to login to Mozilla in order to download and I hope then it will reach a wider target audience.
Cheers,

Thanks opened a new firefox browser instead of a new tab and it works fine.
Thanks ChrisHi Poppycat
This is strange. Clutching at straws here - the plugin will only display an alert once per browser session for any given site. If you kill all instances of FireFox, then start a new browser session - do you get an alert for Amazon?
I aim to add an option into FireFox to set whether you get an alert once per session or on every page visit in a future version. I went for the 'quieter' option initially so it didn't become too annoying.
Cheers.

I've been using the Internet Explorer version of the Cashback toolbar for some time now and it's highlighted several sites that I didn't realise offered cashback - £40 for signing up to British Gas HomeCare, brilliant! It's also encouraged me to build up a portfolio of Cashback sites meaning I can maximise my cashback. Obviously some cashback sites are better than others and it's difficult to steer clear of the bad ones, but the site where I downloaded the Internet Explorer toolbar (CashbackGuide.org) allows you to post reviews on Cashback sites and I used that as a rough guide to work out which ones were best.0

Hi TSharp,
There is no logging done as you shop/browse. The toolbar has a list of supported cashback sites that it downloads daily from Cashback Guide (to make sure it reports the current information) - it then checks this list as you browse, which is *completely* anonymous.
Chris.
I was looking at this and it looks great but I was put off by the Privacy Policy:
"Cashback Guide collects personally identifiable information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address or telephone number .......
...... Cashback Guide collects and uses your personal information to operate the Cashback Guide Web site and deliver the services you have requested. Cashback Guide also uses your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from Cashback Guide and its affiliates. Cashback Guide may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered."
It seems a little too open to me in the amount of information it collects and especially the "surveys/research" aspect from itself or affiliates which could be open to abuse.
Has anyone experienced any noticeable increase in spam since using it?0 -
It shouldn't know your email addy, for the Firefox version at least I only had to use my Mozilla account to sign in, and they have a privacy policy. And I've had nothing so far to indicate my details have been leaked to Cahback GuideWycombe Till I Die0

I must be missing something simple here...
I've installed this add-on , restarted firefox and checked to see if add-on is installed and enabled(all spot on)but still not seeing anything pop-up and I've tried a few sites that have cashback offers .
Any ideas?0 -
Hello Jaxer,
Thanks for the feedback. The privacy policy for Cashback Guardian is inherited from the Cashback Guide website. Unfortunately the privacy policy was a fairly generic one supplied with our content management system which, as you pointed out, was "a little open". I completely agree with your concerns and I've updated our privacy policy to tighten it up. I've updated both Mozilla and Cashback Guide website.
I'd like to emphasise that Cashback Guardian does not (and never will) collect personal information or record information on browsing habits. When the policy refers to "collected information" it is referring to information that is volunteered on the CBG site. As it happens, if you register on CBG all you have to give is your name and email address. There is no intention at this point to use that information to send e-mails to registered users. Should we did decide to change this decision in the future then we would certainly take an opt-in solution, so users of Cashback Guide and Cashback Guardian can expect a spam-free experience.
I hope that addresses your concerns?
Cheers,

@panicker
Are you still having problems? If so, which site URLs are you visiting?
A couple of things to bear in mind when using Cashback Guardian are that an alert will only show the first time you visit a site (this is reset when Firefox restarts); also, the web page must completely load before an alert is shown.
Cheers,
Chris0
