Orange or O2?

Please help me decide, should I stay with orange payg or move to o2 payg?
Ive been with orange for ages with no problems but the payg tarriff on o2 seems a better a deal. I got a couple of free sims from the o2 offer and topped one up with £10 intending to try it out (my phone is sim free by the way so I can use either) but still cant decide which is better.

Orange

Pros
Reserve calls when you run out of credit,
Automatic delivery reports,
I can download my yahoo email straight to my phone using the pop3 account,
cons
More expensive generally and the only free text offer is the 3000 offpeak/weekend one which is good but no free texts from 7am to 7pm monday to friday! :(

O2

Pros
£30 worth of free texts each month (anytime of day) with a £10 top up, and still have £10 to do what you want with,
1mg of wap browsing free each month with the £10 top up,
Cons
Email cannot download straight to phone on payg (why I dont know, contract users can use this feature but just not payg users  it should be phone dependant not network dependant),
No automatic delivery reports, if I 'remember' to type in *O# at the start of the message then il get them but they are not automatic,
And im struggling to get my mms working on the O2 sim despite 3 phone calls to CS, to be fair they did say they would text me them but they havent arrived.
ETA: The mms has now been sorted due to me emailing O2 CS via the website and them sending me the settings in an email which I did manually, it now works! :j
So if you have any comments or can just help me decide then please do, really dont know what to do.

Thank you :D

  • O2 without a doubt.

Orange are currently notoriously absolute garbage. I have major issues with them at the minute in that they think they have the right to bar my phone for whatever reason they want, and force me to continue to pay for it whilst I have no service at all, threatening me with debt collection if I ever fail to pay a future bill.

    Nope, O2 rule.

Anyway may I suggest, my phone (Sony Ericsson k500) has a message templates feature - I just made a template with *0# and then made the left button (or left push of the joystick to be presice) a shortcut to the templates menu (it won't let you link to an exact template, but this works fine for me). Your phone may have a similar feature (my old Siemens had a predefined text menu I used for this).
  • I've just switched to O2 from Orange (was with them 5+ years) and would recommend them... Orange are just too expensive currently.

I'm sure you could get your email somehow via GPRS jiggery-pokery...

Here in S Wales I had better coverage with my Orange than my current O2. Travel out of the cities and I have SOS calls only which don't work!

Also with Orange when I was on contract with them I could ring to find out available mins on their automated service. O2 you can only do online.

I'm stuck with O2 till next may. I'm glad it's not costing me any money as I took out the free deal with www.mobileshop.com and had a free Moto V220 plus 100xnet 100 text for £0 per month.

  • Poppy 9 is that deal for real? If so why do they want your bank details?

The line rental is £30 per month, charged to your bank a/c. You then make 4 X £90 cashback claims during the course of the year.
