Taking my Mobile to live in Oz?

I've got a Samsung E700, which I really love. I was thinking of taking it with me when I move to Oz, and just putting an Oz mobile SIM in. Is this possible?

Also, I found this on the unlock thread:

errr.... what does that mean, and what do I do?

Also - does anyone know of any good Oz Mobile providers - maybe from roaming on holiday there?

If you get it unlocked you can just shove an Aussie sim in it (I know nothing about Australian phone networks though - try an Australian forum perhaps)

The codes are unlock codes - if you put an invalid sim in the phone (eg. an O2 sim if it is locked to T-Mobile) it will say "invalid sim" and I think then you enter these codes either *2767*688# or #*7337#). There is a limit on how many times you can try though and then it will be permanently locked, so get more advice before doing this.
