So can you answer why I know of a case of someone who got awarded DLA and the reason is that they had been registered as a heroin addict for 10 years? The only mobility issue there is when he can't move as he is so smacked out his head.

I also suffer with my spine momaluce, and I was awarded DLA, so I would definitely say appeal the decision.
Good luck.

maybe they didnt get the mobility component??ever thought of that?
Im afraid that its not ours to make any judgemets about anyone on this section of the forum, just to help and or advise,if we cant do that the best thing to say is NOTHING :mad:0 -
And maybe I know that they did. My point is that I agree with other posters that this, like many other benefits, is abused and it's not fair. Not when so many people have to go through hell to get it that should.
(not quite sure what the angry face is all about but never mind eh?)0 -

the angry face is quite simple, this forum isnt the place to discuss the politics of benefits,or whats fair and whats not,ITS to help, support and advise people as best we can,if you cant do that then as i said best say nowt !:mad:0 -
sorry to burst your bubble, but dla is paid for care and or mobility needs, its not paid for trivial conditions
Well I would pretty much call an addiction trivial (and by that I mean it is self induced) and that is what I was driving it. Nothing more and nothing less. I was merely agreeing with what another person thought.
But if shouting at me and telling me to keep my mouth shut makes you feel like the better person then go ahead

Addictions are not trivial, they are serious and can be life threatening. Nobody chooses to become an addict. Whatever is wrong with someone DLA is for mobility and care needs.0 -
Sorry that doesn't wash with me. No one forces drink drugs whatever into someone - they choose to do it, choose to continue and choose not to stop.
I'm an addict as I smoke. Do you know who's fault that is ? mine mine mine. I chose to try a cigararette and choose to continue.
Just like someone chooses to shoot up, snort or whack drink down their neck.
Hmmm, I wonder if I can get DLA as I can't run very far without getting out of breath and have a terrible cough sometimes. No I couldn't and wouldn't expect to as I chose to have, and continue to choose, having this addiction.

Loopy Girl, you comments are completely off topic and not helping anyone. Maybe you should reread the OP and then only reply if you have something on topic to say?Gone ... or have I?0

Ah sorry. Didn't realise only certain posters had right to reply. My apologies.
And I have given OP support for which I hope helped enourmously and I hope she keeps us posted on hubby's progress.0
