Cat Rescue That Will Rehome Old Cats?

This is a really tough one I am finding.

We are emigrating to New Zealand in about 10 days time

Since February I have been trying to find someone to foster my cats whilst we are abroad. They are 20 and 17, and we felt that subjecting them to 30 hours in a cage in the hold of a airplane, was too much, and that they would probably die in transit anyway.

But this year has been totally crap for a lot of my friend, deaths etc, and another set of friends have young children etc, so no time for additional responsibilities.

I have tried leafletting my local area, and vets with no result, and my local Cats Protection place said no because they a) have a waiting list and b) wouldn't take them anyway because they are too old and would never get rehomed!

So I do have some leads to follow up from this website tomorrow

http://www.catchat.org/adoption

but I was wondering (to save me a bit of time), if anyone knew of a cat rescue that takes older cats? I would happily drive pretty much anywhere in south east/south west/midlands/east anglia/south wales, to get to a place if there is such a rescue centre.

Thanks in advance

And can i add to that, what fantastically loved cats they must be, they are fantastic ages. The people that are after cats, one is my best mate, they all have young children so im not sure how the cats will cope with that, please let me know. I will come online first thing before school run to have a look. I can guarantee they will be in loved homes though, one of the person lives in my road, one lives on the corner, i cant have another cat as my cat will go mad, i already have a cat, dog and parrot anf fish and my policy is only to have one of each animal, otherwise the other same animal will get loved less, plus my cat is extrememly moody. im sorry i cant help personnally myself. ALso the cats protection in dorset is fantastic, they really are, have you tried them if my friends fail, i promise i will be back in touch with you n the morning after the school run. Good luck hun, thinking of you xxx

Contact www.oldies.org.uk - they mainly deal with dogs but they list some cats too and might be willing to send out a notice for you if you explain the urgency.
    Good Luck

There is a charity called nine lives that might help. I saw something about them on the Celia Hammond Cat Chat page. Good luck
