My cats just had a fight

My cat Ted came in about an hour ago, hes had a fight, his eye is sore, again.
Its the second bad fight hes had (the other one was a year or more ago).
I bathed him, I can't see any cuts on him now, but I did think there was some blood on him, but it could have been spit & rain, it was hard to tell as he was wet. But if there are any cuts & scratches on his body at least they will be clean now.
I showered his face & head on a soft spray, so hopefully I will have got any muck out & perhaps the infection won't be so bad.
His right eye (same one as before) looks like its coming up. His eye isn't as bad as last time, last time it was awful, i was up with him most of the night. I've put some eye ointment in that I had from last fight.
I will take him to the vets in the morning.
I was looking at pet insurance leaflets at the weekend:rolleyes: Shame I didn't start it:mad:
Thankfully hes not so bad as the last fight.
I don't even let him out at night (he doesn't even want to stay out at night). He was out having his last wee of the night. Shows how easy it is.

Hope your Ted feels better soon. If you've been through it before you'll know about the danger of abscesses after a fight.
Will he stay in for a few days? It may be that he just needs a bit of extra fuss.
Fingers crossed that it is just a feline equivalent of a black eye - my old tom used to get them all the time and they were gone by the next day.
I got pet insurance through Quidco with the RSPCA, the insurance run by AXA but part of the profit going to the RSPCA. I've not had a claim on them. When Ted is feeling better it may be worth having a rummage on the boards for good insurance deals, but first things first. I hope he feels better soon.Always another chapter0 -

I will take him to the vet in the morning (unless its cleared uo, but I doubt it). Whenever he has a fight, he comes home with a bad eye.
The vet says its because he fights toe to toe.
He doesn't use a tray anymore, I don't think he would like it again. But after the last big fight, he doesn't stray far now. It was the one good thing that came out of that fight.
Hes still a bit agressive with other cats, I've seen him chasing most of the local cats (he chases them all off). I think it must be a tiger he has a fight with, because all the other cats around here give him a wide berth.
But he does stay very close to home, within about 6 houses either side, which isn't far for a boy.
I'm surprised I didn't hear it.
The last fight cost me between £150 & £200!0 -

My tom was a house cat, due to circumstances, so he got his regular supply of black eyes from a very small tabby about half his size. There were never many scratches, the few that were we watched really carefully and there was only one that really needed a vet but you have to be so careful with cats - they hide when they are hurt as well, or pretend to be fine when they are poorly. It sounds like you are really on top of the situation, though, so fingers crossed that it will look better in the morning.
If he is intact, or he wasn't separated early enough or efficiently from his pride, it will make him a bit more prone to a scrap, but then again my old tom (neutered) was the biggest wuss I have ever met.

He has been done.
He still likes to fight:mad: Sprays the garden:rolleyes: & stimulates sex with mongolian fur cushions:o
Thank you for your post:D0 -
Sorry to hear about your little cat.I would take him to the vets just to be safe.Cats have teeth like hyperdermic needles and they are covered in bacteria,if they bite somethining the bacteria goes well down into the wound which may look ok and heal but will inevitably turn into an abcess. An antibiotic jab now can save a lot of problems for your cat and work out a lot cheaper for you.
I have had several tom cats who have always been neutered and it did'nt stop any of them fighting, they are just so territoral.
I hope your little boy is ok.0 -

Good morning
Was just looking to see if anyone had replied to my tech help post & I spotted this.
TBH I would have taken him anyway, unless it looked normal this morning (& that wasn't going to happen).
Its not too bad, but hes very sleepy, he hasn't even been out for a wee yet or a bite to eat. Hes still in my bed.
I will ring vets at 9 & try & get him in this morning (I can go into work a bit late).
Its not nearly as bad as the last time, that was really nasty.
Thank you.0 -
How is Ted? I hope he is well and it wasn't too expensive.Always another chapter0

Sorry, I should have got back to you:o
Hes much much better. THANK YOU:D
The eye isn't nearly as bad as the last fight.
Just under £45. He was seen by the vet, got some ointment for his eye & 10 tablets (2 a day for 5 days - antibiotics).
There will be no lasting damage to his eye (the pupil is scared from the last fight, but it was punctured).
Not had any owner at the door complaining about the fight either, I suspose like me, they don't have a clue.0 -
Glad to hear it's not too bad.
How is he at taking tablets? I disguise them in fish paste, but it isn't always foolproof
Anyway, good luck with him and glad to hear he is fine.Always another chapter0 -
He's really good about taking tablets.
I just put him on my lap, tip his head back, open his mouth & drop it down the back.
He wouldn't eat them "in anything", he ONLY eats Royal Canin, he doesn't like meat, fish or poultry.0
