Personally I would go with the HND, I think they look better in something like Networking. Works experience also seems to be valued. I am trying to get some kind of Cisco certificate at the moment. Why dont you look at that?

What is it you want to do at the end of the day?

The thing is, there are so many industry certificates nowadays so I don't know if they are as valued as much anymore. Many companies offer courses in IT, you need only watch TV to see ads for computeach and other companies. Then again, I know people who went to college and they said that they got the HND without doing much work at all. It would seem that collages are giving out qualifications recklessly.

I would say most definately from experience that the colleges courses in which I've partaken are far from easy. Many of the students, some of whom have been in the IT industry for some time, struggled with the course content and the exams.

...The only reason I was going to do the Network+ and Security+ was to get a beter understanding of each, and I can decide which route to take afterwards.
You might as well and save some time and £££ buy doing the industry recognized one, a bit like doing your learners license in an automatic car, just so that you can get some practice for a manual license.

T...I was looking at the MS, Cisco route or possibly even Security and Admin. This is only my second year of study and my networking knowlege atm is based around small office and home,. ...
Admin is closely related to Server and is more of an extra to the server info. Security = networking + admin + server + the extra security stuff + security processes and methodology, also a bit of email and firewall experience would be good too. Yes, you can get security quals without doing networking or admin or server etc, but it is as much use as a chocolate fire guard.
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)
