    here

should be a pdf showing the discounted rates.

Link just takes me to the house home page but I followed through the link and found the rates which are as I quoted earlier. The only unknown thing of course is what the 2006 change will mean.

At the moment though, with the discounted rates, I would be £100 worse off if I moved to SP's capped offer.

Jem, what did you do in the end??? I've now missed out on the SP capped offer as they have put their prices up.

Just signed up with Equigas for my gas supply as they are the cheapest provider for my usage ( 6000 Kwh per annum ) at £116 a saving of 43% on BG.

Searching for Electric supply and BG comes out the lowest but with a £20 penalty if you cancel before 2007, however, if you go through the online sign up process to the confirmation page and read the terms and conditions and scroll to the special terms for discounted rates you get this

" ADDITIONAL TERMS FOR OUR 'CAPPED PRICE ELECTRICITY' OFFER THAT ENDS ON 31ST MARCH 2005
Our Prices and Charges: Our prices for supply and charges are set out in the relevant Schedule of Charges (as published from time to time) and we will not increase those prices before 1st April 2005 excluding any changes in the rate of UK VAT or other relevant taxes. We may decrease our prices. "

Seeing that the terms and conditions on the site are out of date and form part of the contract you sign, could BG enforce the penalties if you cancelled or switched early as a price rise in early 2006 seems certain ?

Anyone with a legal mind care to comment !

So far I have applied for discounted electricity with BG - 10 days later and still no confirmation or even acknowledgement! Nor do they reply to the phone - held on for almost an hour - or email. I'm beginning to get fed up with them! They are too busy emailing me trying to get me to sign up for the 2010 price freeze!

When or IF I get confirmation I was intending to switch my gas to SP, although not sure about that just now.

The discounted elec with BG is starting to look attractive, especially if they keep their new rates in 2006 6-10% cheaper than SP.

10 days is a bit much, I thought it would be instant, worked out I will save £27 by the end of tyhis year just by switching plans.

The comparison sites are now also now showing BG Disc Elec with a free months elec (£26)...................
