Charge for an Engineer call out

Options
I have had loads of problems trying to get Talk Talk Broadband. BT state that I am in a broadband blackspot (only a handfull of houses affected), but Talk Talk say that everything should be ok, they have checked their lines etc etc. I have tried two different modems and neither work.

They say now that I need an engineer to visit, and will charge me £160 for this!!! I have asked them if they can provide me with broadband or not (simple question which I have asked repeatedly since by 'go-live' date of 20th February), but they cannot answer this until I have had an engineer visit. I also cannot cancel as they as apparently providing the service for me.

I have phoned and emailed constantly, and not getting anywhere. Any advice????

ps - I am currently having to pay for web'n'walk so I can get some sort of internet connection

If your line is not working properly for ADSL BT will not really care what YOU say to them as its your ISP that need to deal with it for you. BT will test your line for voice call services and as long as that works they are happy (unless BT is providing your ADSL).
If Talk Talk are so sure all should be well why are they not asking BT why you cannot receive ADSL on your line? Do not pay the engineer call out fee as it is doing nothing but saving Talk Talk from having to pay to get your line looked at.

Absolutely - that is what I have been trying to tell them. Not sure what to do now, they say that BT will call me before they arrive but will not give me any contact details.

Yep thats correct. Talk Talk are the only people to liase with BT's engineering division (Openreach) As you're not a customer of Openreach they have no legal obligation to talk to you. So you need to be putting more pressure on Talk Talk as if theres any charges, they will have to pay & ultimately if appointments need to be made then they're the ones to do it.
