    He must work in Hackney!

Not Hackney, but a really rough part of Birmingham. (one of the failed July 21st bombers was arrested in his area amongst other infamous cases)

Shame he doesn't work in Hackney, isn't that where Jacqui Smith said she wouldn't walk alone? I can't stand that women. I think someone should drop her off on the roughest estate they can find at pub closing time.

And let her see the police were worth their pay rise after all when she comes crying for a lift home and a stab vest.

I agree. All that was highlighted to me was that some people cannot manage their finances.
Yes that woman Suman said as much that some people probably shouldn't be buying houses as they don't really understand mortgages, interest rates and the yoyo effect of the housing market over the long term.

That's why in schools instead of teaching them plenty of useless stuff which the kids aren't interested in they should be teaching them proper life skills about property and the economy and borrowing and saving etc...

Your expected to pick it up from others or by yourself. But finance has never been more complicated.

It's over. Were going to go Japanese.

Do you want to borrow £10k to buy 5 houses? What do you mean f*** off?

You can't GIVE property away in japan now.
Guess Tokyo must have got independence.
Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

    Right an' all!

I've been saying this for years. 16 year olds can leave school being able to correctly identify a metaphor (well, not all of them but that's the general aim of English lessons), tell you how rabbits procreate and can make an useless structure out of chipboard and melted pens , but they have no clue about credit cards, mortgages and all the really important things that they're going to need to know one day. Why can't the powers that be see this?? Could it be that the reason this kind of education is being denied is because there would potentially be a whole generation of people who could assess whether or not they can afford something before they buy it, and therefore fewer clueless mugs getting themselves into all kinds of financial trouble? This would surely not do for the banks and credit companies... Cynical? Moi? ;) (I really shouldn't have read anything George Orwell wrote - it has coloured my thinking ever since!)

Lilly I think I had to do a statement once for your OH's patch. I had issued someone with crutches and they were found at a murder scene...don't think they were the weapon though.

I'm not sure. It does sound a lot but once you include
    Food - £200 +
    Council tax - £100?
    Petrol - £100?
    Bills, insurance - £200+?
and not forgetting sky TV :D - £40
and all the rest, I guess it adds up.
At least put them in order:
    Council Tax
    Gas
    Water
    Elecric
    TV Licence
    Petrol/RFL (travel to work)
    FOOD

Expect people to be eating grass and tree bark.

Not sure if she really gets the "handing back the keys" as a way of solving all her problems, this is the UK not the US.

Thanks for the keys Mrs X. Now live here in this hanger/workhouse and go to work in this field/factory here every day. In 10 years you will have paid off your negative equity. Next debtor please.
Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.
