  • Hmm, don't you need to get your sprouts on by halloween, or they will never be done in time for Christmas Lunch :D ?

I'm going to make my cake next week but will be giving the puddings a miss this year I think. I've got a couple of jars of pickled onions done though, and plan to do some more next week :j

Onions as an alternative to puddings?

    Whatever floats your boat....

I haven't seen any pickling onions this year. :( My local greengrocer doesn't appear to be selling them or the 5 litre bottles of pickling spice. I love pickled onions and you can't beat homemade.

Might try a HM pud. We don't do cake but I do love a bit of Xmas pud and white sauce. Which recipe do you all use ?

Delia's, but it makes a huuuge amount of mixture! I've ended up with one very large one and one large one (that's a lot of ones). I'm sure someone will post it on here if it hasn't already been but I'm off for dinner at some friends' now :D .

I also use a Delia recipe have done for several years. all the family get together and we do a traditional stirring of the Christmas Pud putting in silver thupenny bits! After having made it for several years I now leave out all the nuts as some people didn't like them and yes it does make loads!!

Good luck everyone I won't make mine for another few weeks when we can all get together!
