My custom dispatch email says something along the lines of "your item has been picked, packed, labeled and will be in the postal system within the next 12 hours" - As I work all over the place, I pack orders at night, mark as dispatched, and put them in the car ready to post the next morning.

I've often wondered if buyers get confused about receiving these dispatched emails at 11pm on Sunday - now I know!! ;)

It wasn't an email I got, it was from the view order details you told me about before :)

It's that dispatch email that populates the View Order details screen though - If I mark it as dispatched at 11.30pm on a Sunday, that is the date and time shown to the buyer, as well as sending the email at the same time.

    I don't understand

I went to 'my ebay' clicked on 'view order details' from the drop down box and all it tells me is that it was dispatched on 01/06/2008. Nothing about the time and no email received by me regarding that transaction?

You are talking about SMP aren't you, which is different?

Thanks Steve - that would explain why I was confused.

I don't use Seller Manager Pro (SMP) and I guess the sellers I've bought from don't either.

  • I always email my buyers after they've paid to let them know their item has been posted, and when they should expect to receive it, I know I hate wondering when stuff is going to arrive! I just bought something from US ebay and the seller sent me a really nice message with the tracking info and saying how long transit from the US to UK usually takes and when I should be expecting the item, its a nice touch!

I've bought quite a few items in the last couple of weeks, probably 11 and only ONE seller has actually made communication with me, to let me know they have sent out my item.

With this new feedback in play, wouldn't you think that sellers would make more of an effort

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to neg them for not communicating with me, but there will be some buyers out there who will neg for that reason.

There has been a problem with messages being emailed, so check that your Ebay messages hasn't got some 'items dispatched' messages in.

I do read every emails sent by my sellers, and I like to know which days my items are despatched, because like that I would know more or less when to expect the item to reach me. I even ask the sellers to let me know when they will be posting the item in the Paypal message box when I pay for the item. But not always. To depend on what I'm buying, or sometimes the seller states how long after payment the item will be posted in their listings, or in their invoices, in which case I don't need to ask them.
But I would do without those emails telling me on what item I am bidding, I do keep an eye on my biddings and I know exactly what I bid on.

I always email my buyers to say when goods are sent but like RFW says I am having real problems with messages via ebay, mine just never arrive and I htink some of those sent to buyers disappear as well.
