Help! Where can I get a simple mobile phone!!!
Please can someone help, I have been searching for a simple mobile phone to buy. With the majority of mobile phones today being high-tech up-to-the-minute things which can do almost everything, can someone tell me if there is a mobile phone out there which is simply a phone?!!!

all of them, you don't need to use all the other stuff. If you just want something to ring people then you'll have to pick one up on Ebay (an old one) and then buy a sim card for it. As there's not much market for something so plain it's worthless companies making them.0

theres loadsa 'simple' phones on ebay, went into carphonewaehouse and they recommended me a nokia 2600 for my mum and if she can use it anyone can! Its a tidy little thing, theres quite a few of em on ebay, used and new. This seems a good deal, may buy another one for me dad, you can pick up a sim for a couple of quid:

I highly recommened a Nokia 1100. Does the basics functions very well, and is so simple to use.
Will cost you less than £30 new too.

Tesco are doing a clear out at the moment on a lovely little Siemens Pay-as-you-Go phone for £20. Wife's had one for a while, no problems with it, and it plays pretty little tunes too !
go fetcham I missing something ??0 -
Wow, theres some quick responses! Cheers! Thanks for your suggestions guys, scheming_gypsy it's true that they are all phones but I disagree that making something that just rings is worthless because there are plenty of people who would like a mobile phone but are just are not interested in all of the other stuff that gets built in with them. Also it's not really an option to say just use the phone part of it and not the other stuff because all the other stuff is just additional and complicates the use of the phone. I have heard that over in Japan they are making such a phone for such people so the demand is real, it seems as though the mobile companies here are just slower to accept this.
The Nokias and siemens mentioned I have just checked out and they are fairly cheap to buy new and having seen them they are described as the 'compact' type but with my big fingers these sort of mobiles would not really suite the job as I am likely to accidentally press two buttons at once!
What I need is a reasonably sized "bigger buttons" simple to use mobile phone which does not require me to figure out how it works! I just want it to be a phone and dont need the other stuff which gets put on them!!!
I will look on ebay...0 -
You are right about this - there was a thing on the TV recently about the Japanese mobile company which has launched a really basic phone - no texting, no screen just big number buttons, 'pick up' and 'hang up' and yor're right - they are selling like hot cakes!Agerto wrote:Wow, theres some quick responses! Vodafone do a basic phone range called Vodaphone Simply (http://www.vodafone.com/article/0,3029,CATEGORY_ID%253D504%2526LANGUAGE_ID%253D0%2526CONTENT_ID%253D259371,00.html?, to buy http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.viewHandsetDetails&action=getHandsetDetails&contract_type=PAYT&productID=308&itemSKU=PTSA20) which are desined to be really easy to use, but they cost £72, and you don't need to spend this much really (this is a money saving forum after all).0 -

I would suggest you check out a carphonewarehouse to see the phones, as its difficult to tell from just looking at photos (but once you choose your phone buy it online should be cheaper). I think the 1100 is perfect for my big fingers!

I can also vouch for the nokia 2600 being fine for larger fingers, its also has a funky colour screen and in my opinion is of higher build quality and looks a lot nicer than the nokia 1100. If your buying off ebay, stick to the unlocked phones, saves hassle if you ever wanna put a different simcard in it in the future.

Thanks Jay, that simple mobile phone looks very interesting! Its not how I imagined I'd find a simple phone, one or two bits added that I would still not really want in a mobile phone and being white is a bit of a no-no but overall that is a really interesting phone and I will be looking into it and the Nokias further!0

I wouldnt expect these type of phones out over here for a long time though, stick with the nokia cant go wrong.
