Taken from a post on the forums of Mobile-review.com (grammer corrected (sic)).

Follow the instructions then you will have an unlocked Z500!

1- Enter code *7465625*28782# without a sim in the phone
2- Phone will display "Auto Subset Lock: Activated!"
3- Enter code *7465625*28638# without a sim again
3- Phone will display "Auto Network Lock: Activated!"
4- Now insert the sim and enjoy! Phone is Unlocked!

It works a treat, now can use with any SIM.

  • I tried this but didnt work.

when I typed in the first part it was fine ie it gave the message "Auto Subset Lock: Activated!"

When I typed in the second part it gave this message "Auto Network Lock: lock already exists"

So i get a different message from the second part...so therefore it is this which is causing my phone to be still locked...

    can anyone help me?

does anyone know what I am doing wrong...I am following the instructions by the letter.

I know other people have had success with this method.

I am on the Orange Network.

    Thanks

No idea sorry. Mine was on Voda not Orange.

Any Orange users out there successfully used the unlock?
  • Chuffy could you do me a favour - I seen in other places that Orange have got clever and about this and that their firmware stops easy unlock (as above method). So some people have suggested that I should update/ change the firmware - but i dont know which one I should change to.

So could you please tell me what firmware version is present in your phone so I could change it to that. The way to check firmware version is as follows:

    *#1234#

that should tell you your fw version. Mine is Z500BVEI1

IF ANYONE WITH ORANGE OR WITH this f/w managed to unlock the phone then please tell me.

    thanks

I think Orange has different firmware that they have tweaked so the unlock patch fails.
  • the firmware for orange z500's is Z500BVEG4
  • So what does the firmware mean as far as getting my phone unlocked then please? Or does it mean that I can't?

If there is no codes available, then will going to the market stall and paying a tenner be any better?
