Hi
My credit card has had some fradulant transactions which appear to have been picked up by my bank in the authorisation stage so only one seems to have gone through, these all seem to be card number related rather than chip and pin, now Im not sure how easy the number is to get hold of and use but my wife had a thought lastnight that the only place where we dont use chip and pin routinely is when we use the internet for purchases (reputable/house hold name sites only and very rarely on this card) and when we order pizza to be delivered we pay on card over the telephone giving address and the security number (we have used same place for over 7yrs without problem) now do you think I should tell the credit card company of this and would you approach the owner of the pizza shop (small independent pizza shop) and tell him my suspicians, I guess I dont know how else anyone could have got this card number and maybe clutching at straws so any advice would be welcome
many thanks

No - the card could have been cloned using a number generator.
If you know where to look these are freely available on the internet.0 -
Ask your card issuer to clarify?
If someone has cloned your card and PINched your PIN, then you need to know soonest. Don't answer this but you maybe using the same PIN for all your cards.
The Banking Code states that if you suspect someone knows your PIN password or other security information, you should tell your card/bank issuer soonest. (Banking Code Article 12.7).

The credit card company say that none of the fradulant transactions are chip and pin related, all seem to be internet transactions, would this be a cloned card? or just someone who has got my card number??0

It certainly seems as if it were your card details that were used but to be absolutely certain I'd go back and ask them to clarify. The question I'd put to them is.
Can you confirm that it was only my card details that were used in a CNP transaction or was my card cloned and my signature forged, or was my card cloned and PIN used to make a cash withdrawal at an ATM?
They should be able to furnish you with this information instantly.0 -
Please check asap I am in the middle of trying to recover £2000 taken out my bank account in one weekend,The transactions were all done on the internet,Not chip and pin. They even went gambling. So it does not take long for them to reek havoc with you account. If unsure cancel the card and get a new one. Better being safe than sorry. I had not used my debit card for 6 weeks as I was abroad and the money was to pay for direct debit bills for the six months I was supposed to be away. It has cost me £600 to fly home and sort it all out. When i was speaking to the girl in the bank she told me they can buy your card details now. But please dont go jumping to conclusions it could have happened anywhere even months ago.0
