Establishing a New Header.

There are hundreds of postings about credit and debit card fraud spread all over the Forum.
Can I suggest we have a header under Pure Money titled Card Fraud.
Vlictims could tell of their experiences and outcomes.
Readers would be altered to fraud in their area i.e. the Petrol Staion Scams.
Or where their PINs or card details may have been compromised. (This effects CREDIT, DEBIT and Bank Card holders).
Best advice would be readily available under 1 roof as would hints and tips.
I haven't a clue how you go about having a new Header rather than Thread added.
Advice and help most welcome.
Thanks in advance

I would like to add my support to this excellent suggestion. My wife and I are currently worried about a possible ID theft attack on my wife's CC, so I decided to look on MSE for advice, assuming with ID theft & CC fraud now one of the biggest crimes, MSE would have a dedicated advice centre. Avoiding having your money (large sums of it often) stolen from you surely has to be the most worthy form of money saving there is!
I'd like to see advice include things like ...- The legal situation - who is liable to pay?
- What to do if your CC company seems more interested in getting their money than investigating fraudulent transactions.
- Some CC advertise their cards include protection against ID theft & CC fraud. Should we need special features for this? Maybe have to pay extra for it?! Surely it's immoral to not get this protection by default.

James, can I tentativly suggest you retitle your thread? The current one gives no indication it's anything to do with CC fraud or ID theft, nor that you would like Martin to look at it. If more people se this thread is relevant to them, then more will subscribe to it, hopefully giving more support to your request. I've found thread titles have a big impact on whether people decide to drop in or not. Just a thought
Thanks for your useful comments. I had a reply from Martin via the webmaster saying Martin said no, but thanking me for the suggestion.
Your right you do need an appropriate title and I hope Martin revisits his decision.
Any ideas very welcome.0 -
Hi
James and I have spoken already but I just had a thought, have you read Martin's ID Fraud article on the main site?
Hope that helps

Hi Andrea,
Thanks for your input BUT, most of the people who suffer Card Fraud do not realise this is a form of ID theft, either Account Takeover or Application Fraud. In both cases Fraudsters pretend to be someone they're not. It is only recently that the card industry mention card fraud and ID theft in the same breath. I assure you and ask your readers, most victims of card fraud never think of ID theft unless they've been advised or someone has tried to sell them an ID Theft product (in the case of card fraud, there IMHO are worthless).
We did as I recall communicate about the www.freeidprotection.co.uk website, acknowledged by Equifax, recognised by Experian and Call Credit and being cheaper and more effective than CIFAS Protective Registration (Barry Stamp, author of the Lawpack's Identity Theft Tool Kit).
You never did say why Free ID Protection wasn't included in Martin's article or added to Free Money Tips or Free Tools. Is this because it's driven by the individual and not the industry?
Even if you don't address Free Id Protection, may I be so bold as to ask again to consider having a One Stop Forum Header under Pure Money. CARD FRAUD.
Readers in general seem to be supporting this idea.
Maybe You'd like to put a Poll on the site?
Do you think we should have a Forum Topic dedicated to Card Fraud?
Thanks in advance0 -

Vast majority of which are yours arent they?
I'm indifferent to if a new subforum is created or not, but think would need to be moderated heavily if it is - some of the posts I've seen which allege fraud without proof I imagine could be considered libelous0 -

James, since you're the person doing all of the posting about this I suggest that you start a single thread somewhere and add to it. It doesn't take a whole section for just one poster.0
