Best contract for texting?

I've always had a PAYG phone, but recently I've been spending quite a lot on it, and I'm fairly certain a contract will work out better value for money for me. I send a lot of text messages, so I want at least 500 inclusive in the contract, and while I don't make many phonecalls, I would like at least some inclusive minutes.

The best deal I have been able to find is on the Orange website, £15 a month for unlimited texts and 100 minutes, on an 18 month contract.

Can anyone recommend any better deals?

l'm also looking for the same sort of deal as l'm on pay as you go and am sure a deal like what you have mentioned would benefit me. What sort of phone is it for the 18 month contract.

How is your handset? You could always give the SIM-only tariff a try, which means if you find you don't like it you don't have to carry on with another 16 months of a contract (or you could try and get a better deal in 6 months when "upgrading"). With Orange it's £15 for 150 minutes and 300 texts, but Unlimited Evening and Weekend texts.

And i have just noticed their 18 month Dolphin 15 (£15) and Dolphin 30 (£15) have the "same" features (100 mins, unlimited texts, see here) but the 24 month Dolphin 15 only has weekend and evening texts. For some reason I am expecting this to be a labelling error, although the 24 month Dolphin 25 (which costs £20pm) has the same specs again.

T-Mobile £20 gets you 500 minutes and unlimited texts, SIM-only. Would need to pay £22.50 on O2 (£15 plus a £7.50 SMS bolt on) and £25 on Vodafone.

If you want about 500 texts Tesco Payg will give you 500 texts for a £15 top up. Pay your top up by d/d and you can get it down to £13.50p a month. You get to keep the money to use on calls etc,and you get half-price calls and texts to 3 favourite numbers.

Port an existing number and their give you £5 credit.

Buy a Tesco Extra Sim http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-2121.aspx for £10 and get
£20 credit. Then ask for it to be put on the Standard Plus Tariff with the Free Texts.

If your a text addict, I'd recommend you go for the new SIM only T-Mobile Solo tariff costing £20p/m

    http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/sim-card/pay-monthly/

You only get a sim card and pay £20p/m for UNLIMITED text messages, and 500 anytime minutes.

If you go via Quidco, you get £35 cashback, so it's practically paying almost 2months line rental back. Best of it all is that it's a type of contract where you only give 30days notice (so you could take it out and the following week, give your 30day notice and cancel).
