Sorry didnt know where to put this but there is a problem with the ps2 power leads and sony are going to replace the leads free of charge if yours is one of the faulty ones go two ps2 web site which is http://www.ps2ac.com/ they say to unplug them as they can catch fire if you have a fualty one .....

my son has a slimline ps2 and had the adapter that was faulty...we seen an ad in the newspaper and ordered a new 1...took a week to arrive...my son was devastated...a week and no playstation...
check your adapters...0 -

It is only the Free Standing adapters that are affected according to this:
