About to collect blackberries for this year's winemaking. I did some a few years ago and one batch came out well, the other did not...

Hi everyone anybody brewing anything at the moment? I did a few Wilkinson kits a couple of years back and have just started one today. Never made wine other than from a kit although I do have some demijohns so might give it a go!January grocery challenge £0/£300

we are enjoying the 5 gals of reisling that I made early this year from a kit and have elderberry maturing in the garage. other than that nothing on the go but have two kits handy so may get my arris into gear and set something up this weekend. Hm parsnip was fantastic least year as was a wine from another site called worzels wine, only used a couple of cartons of juice. Have picked loads of blackberries from the allotment but they are frozen and could be used anytime. The maturing last years elderberry will be just right for christmas time0

We have a large (and I mean large) bucket of grapes that have been crushed and are sat waiting to be turned into wine. We bookmarked the page that should have told us what to do next but My computer crashed and I had to reinstall everything from scratch and I lost my bookmarks. I have tried to find the original page and can't, so can anyone point me to an idiots guide on what to do next?:hello:  please play nicely children !0

Thank you for that! It seems a good guide so we will be following that when we get in from work. We had so many grapes it seemed daft not to at least try to do something with them.
I had about half a inch of elderberry wine last night and within five minutes my face was flushed and I was feeling slightly warm! Don't know what the alcohol content is but it might be an alternative to switching on the central heating in future!!!:hello:  please play nicely children !0 -
Started two Wilc0's tins yesterday, a chardonnay and a cabernet, both in the airing cupboard now. They were £8.50 each plus a 1kg of wine sugar for £2.00, hopefully 12 bottles for £19, so less than £1.60 a bottle.
I am expecting they will be ok to drink, but had in mind cooking wine at that price if not to our taste. Anyone tried these? Reviews?0 -
One thing to bear in mind about drinking very new elderberry wine is to be careful if you suffer from irritable bowel syndrome or ulcerative colitis. It is very high in tannin and can cause considerable internal irritation and inflammation. Best to leave it to mature for two or three years in those circumstances if you have the patience!0
