    I've had 2 Brennans and 1 Irwins plain loaves since first reading this, fair spoiled my diet it has :rotfl:

    I was back in NI at Easter - the highlight of my trip was a toasted heel with dromona butter...:D

    I have seen plain loaves in M&S, and also Farmfood on the mainland - I think it was the mothers pride scottish loaf there. http://www.farmfoods.co.uk/

    I see no-one has mentioned having the heel of a loaf with butter and sugar, then folded over.
    Now THAT's a childhood memory. God rest my grandmother, she brought me up on those.
