Norn Iron Bread question?

This may seem odd....

When I was growing up in Norn Iron many moons ago we used to have this white bread which was different to normal white bread, different texture. I seem to recall my folks calling it plain or pan bread. I remember it had really dark crusts...anybody know what I'm on about?

So anyway we're off to a holiday cottage in Eglinton and I wondered where I can get this bread...I was going to have some provisions delivered from Tescos in advance but I'm unsure what I'm looking for?

I think what you're looking for is what is known locally as a plain loaf.

Tesco do their own brand plain batch white bread for 85p and also sell a mother's pride original plain white sliced loaf for £1.03.

Toasted with real butter and a cup of sweet tea........lovely!
Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

Not as easy to get now? It's still available everywhere you go here from supermakets to corner shops to garage forecourts. And good job too.

I can't tell you how happy I was when my local Tesco in England started stocking it in the late 90s.
