Avoiding damp, building a shed directly against wall of house

following on from some good advice from another MSE I plan to build a small shed/lean to against the side of my house.
I plan to ask my handy man to build three sides of the shed making the fourth side the brick wall.
I am assuming having the roof felted a bit like a flat roof (but sloping)
Can anyone advise me of anything I should do to avoid damp.
The handy man is very good at his job making things, but doesn't think much about long term issues, so thought I'd try to research this myself so he can build the solution into his design.
Many thanks

sounds like some lead flashing would be in order, to stop rain getting down the back. Might be an alternative, cheaper product though.IT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer0

Technically speaking you should have a cavity tray put in to stop water travelling down the cavity and into your shed.
However, if the elevation you are building on is sheltered you would probably be ok with just the lead flashing (if it becomes a problem a cavity tray can be put in at a later date).
If you are only building using a single brick skin, I would recommend a good couple of coats of Thomsons Water Seal or similar.
Hope this helps0
