Well I never seen these in the shop yet at all. Either few are going around, or very poularly which inst suprising although no doubt greedy Ebayers will be flogging them for a fast buck. I ahve almsot given up now, I think PG tips havent done themselves any favours by having so few in the shops.
  • If anyone wants one I have 2 spare. £2.66 Plus postage. Pm me.
My mind not only wanders .......... sometimes it leaves completely

  • Does anyone know if there are any in the stores in and around Slough?

I'd love one of these for my daughter, but can't find any anywhere!

Don't think about the mug for a second, think about the bigger picture?

The bit I have highlighted in bold is where I disagree with you. I think I am owed something. I am owed the common decency that says I will be treated in exactly the same manner as my English counterparts.

PGTips or rather Unilever, are happy to sell their goods in Scotland and take Scottish money the same as English but for some reason they don't feel any moral obligation to treat us all the same when it comes to promotions or perks.

And as far as I'm led to believe now, the only reason some of these promotional packs are appearing in (parts of) Scotland is because the Supermarkets themselves have chosen to send out to certain areas depending on their distribution centres. No thanks to Unilever.

So whilst a freebie mug isn't all that important to me (although it certainly was for my daughter), I'm more than a little cheesed off by the realisation that I'm part of a culture whose money is willingly taken but is not worthy of any other consideration.

We each have our own order of importance. This is obviously not an issue for you. I daresay there will be things that you feel strongly about that would wash over me. Each to their own. Unfairness tends to stick in my throat generally and this is an unfair situation imo, so instead of simply mouthing off about it, I chose to make my point in a constructive manner to the company concerned. If you feel I should not have complained then I accept your opinion, but we will need to agree to disagree on this one. :)

Incidentally, I travelled a 70 mile round trip the other day visiting 1 city and 3 towns in connection with something else. I took the opportunity of checking out the supermarkets - 4 Tescos, 2 Morrisons, 1 Somerfield, 2 Co-ops and no-one was aware of the promotional packs let alone seen one. So whilst I'm happy that the good folks in Oban may be able to lay their hands on a W & G mug.. it doesn't help the rest of us much.

Edited to add: I wrote the above to try to explain why I was annoyed at the situation...I'm honestly not trying to be argumentative.

Dont forget it's Scotland - they have to allow for the fact your wallets are not as big - hence you get lower tier solutions like 'Scottish blend'. Premium products like PG tips are not going to sell so well, so they spend their promotion money where it counts! Not to mention if they gave away 'free' mugs in Scotland, they would need more security than an Ikea opening ;0]

    Definition of racism

    *

The ICERD (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) defines racism as follows:
“Any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment, or exercise, on equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, or any other field of public life.”
    *

The International Council on Human Rights Policy (IHCRP) argues:
“racism has not disappeared… we confront forms of racism that are covert or more complex or are linked to wider issues, such as changes in the nature of the state, gender discrimination, or marginalisation due to developments in the global economy.”

I define them as a Quango that makes it up as they go along. National origin has nothing to do with race.
  • O.H., for her sins works in Sainburys and is getting a little bit peeved off with the increased workload and customer harassment associated with this promotion so this afternoon decided she decided to test the elasticity of demand for Gromit mugs.
On her way from the warehouse to the shelf with the remaining 8 packets, she announced in a clear and loud voice, "Gromit mugs, fifteen pounds each". She was surrounded by eager customers and had to be rescued by a male member of staff who promptly rollocked her. Needless to say the stock was removed from the shelf as soon as it was deposited thereon. This is in an area of the not too wealthy midands.
  • :rotfl: I'd love to have seen that!

I have been trying desperately to get hold of two of these around the Great Yarmouth area for the last couple of weeks.. Despite having visited my main supermakets almost daily and constantly telephoning them, I have still had no luck. The staff now seem really unhelpful when you telephone them and I think they are basically hacked off with the whole thing! I have now been told by all 4 supermarkets that they will NOT be getting any more stocks in and that the promotion has now finished. Is there anyone who can help at all - obviously the mugs are not for me but I have two little boys who deperately want one! Any help would be really appreciated
