Have spent the last few days searching in vain for Gromit mugs. Phoned Sainsburys head office this afternoon - they said that the mugs would be delivered to Sainsburys stores today (19th). Rushed down to Sainsburys (Locksbottom, Bromley), but had not arrived. They said they would probably arrive tonight and be on the shelves tomorrow afternoon. In the meantime, went to Tesco (Sidcup) and managed to get some - £2.66. Hoorah!!!!! Still quite a few left there. Just tried it out - the nose goes red. Brilliant! (Not bad for free)!0

I am sorry to hear that the special offer mug is not available in your local area.
I can assure you that no discrimination is intended.
We supply the packs to Supermarket distribution centres and they decide which individual stores get stock.
If a decision has been made not to stock the promotional packs in your area, then that decision has been made by the supermarket not ourselves.
Sorry for any disappointment this may cause.

The bit I have highlighted in bold is where I disagree with you. I think I am owed something. I am owed the common decency that says I will be treated in exactly the same manner as my English counterparts.
PGTips or rather Unilever, are happy to sell their goods in Scotland and take Scottish money the same as English but for some reason they don't feel any moral obligation to treat us all the same when it comes to promotions or perks.
And as far as I'm led to believe now, the only reason some of these promotional packs are appearing in (parts of) Scotland is because the Supermarkets themselves have chosen to send out to certain areas depending on their distribution centres. No thanks to Unilever.
So whilst a freebie mug isn't all that important to me (although it certainly was for my daughter), I'm more than a little cheesed off by the realisation that I'm part of a culture whose money is willingly taken but is not worthy of any other consideration.
We each have our own order of importance. This is obviously not an issue for you. I daresay there will be things that you feel strongly about that would wash over me. Each to their own. Unfairness tends to stick in my throat generally and this is an unfair situation imo, so instead of simply mouthing off about it, I chose to make my point in a constructive manner to the company concerned. If you feel I should not have complained then I accept your opinion, but we will need to agree to disagree on this one.
Incidentally, I travelled a 70 mile round trip the other day visiting 1 city and 3 towns in connection with something else. I took the opportunity of checking out the supermarkets - 4 Tescos, 2 Morrisons, 1 Somerfield, 2 Co-ops and no-one was aware of the promotional packs let alone seen one. So whilst I'm happy that the good folks in Oban may be able to lay their hands on a W & G mug.. it doesn't help the rest of us much.
Edited to add: I wrote the above to try to explain why I was annoyed at the situation...I'm honestly not trying to be argumentative.
Fair enough for your opinion. - My tesco isn't even that big and people laughed at me for buying 2 , any case I did say if anyone was desperate for one I'd happily buy one and post it out to you - Why drive 70 miles in search for one?
Not sure if there are any left now but PM me your interest and Ill see what I can do.0 -

I didn't.I said in my post that I travelled 'in connection with something else'. I had to drive the 70 mile round trip to these places because of work so I took the opportunity to check out the stores while I was in the area.
Thanks very much for the kind offer to check if there are any left near you. I have actually got one now, thanks to another kind MSE'r who posted one to me, for my daughter.Herman - MP for all!0 -
