My GP changed my pill from Femodene (which I had been on for 10 years - 2 pregnancies) to Cilest in February as I had been having unusual bleeding (42 days of bleeding to be precise) and I am aneamic too ! since starting the new pill I have gained half a stone in weight and I have had 2 normal bleeds but in my break last week I did not bleed at all ??? I have done a pregnancy test which is negative, so not really sure whats going on, another thing would my GP change it again just on a weight gain reason??

Hi Macy
I have no experience of the two pills you mention so cant offer advice but I was just thinking it might be a good idea for you to use the family planning clinic instead of your gp?
Firstly its their area of expertise and they can tell you which pills are likely to cause what side effects meaning hopefully if you do change pill again then they can give you one that should help instead of going through many,.
Secondly they normally advise that you use a pill I think for 3 months before changing/stopping as it takes a while for the hormones to settle.
I would definitely recommend a fmc services though as you get the pills there and then so no need for appointments and prescriptions, no cost (same as gp) and they really do know their stuff
Sorry I couldnt offer anything more, I hope this is of some use to you

MEDICAL ADVICE
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.Signature removed for peace of mind0
