Does anyone have any ideas for a holiday for me and the kids, fun, not too expensive? Don't really care where...

If anyone else on the board wants a break why don't you price up a Center Parcs lodge and split the cost?
even splitting it 3 ways would work out pretty cheap and the kids LOVE the swimming paradise!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

What about a house swap with someone bunny? Very cheap, just the cost of petrol to desired location. Camping in Cornwall? Weekend at York races, not fun for kids but hey the adults get to play.
Glad you enjoyed the day or rather survived it. I used to end up doing parties, face painting bouncy castles the lot. Then we discovered the pubs with play areas...bliss.

How about Butlins or Haven? I think they take Tesco Clubcard deals

Love camping personally.....kids can go off for a bit (sorry Bunny.... don't know both your kids' ages) and the tents are so easy to put up these days. Some lovely camp sites in England and it works out quite cheap. Or, as Linda says, get together with someone for Center Parcs and split the cost. Only been once myself but the swimming pool area was brill!! and free once you are there. It doesn't work out too bad if you take your own food and stear clear of the restaurants.

The hoseseasons sites have a good mix of everything, and often very nice locations..as nice as centre parcs and not as much of a rip off.

tbh, the idea of a holiday on my own with the kids is making me very sad-going back to Canada would be ok, my family would be there and would be spending time with me and the kids-camping on my own with the kids would be crap-I'd sit there like a bump in the log after they went to sleep-I'm getting rather emotional about all this-maybe I should just forget it and do some days out instead with them and maybe visit a few friends (Keren? Snags?)

Awww....don't get upset Bunny. I know it will be hard (and TBH I would probably feel the same - lovey dovey families all around you). Days out are fun but not the same as a week away somewhere. You need to recharge the batteries and getting away from the housework, ironing, gardening etc will make such a difference.

Sorry I'm not nearer - Is there no-one you could go away with (with the kids of course)?
