I shall probably support this group http://independenthbos.com/ trying to stop the takeover, after all the shares are that low I have not got much to lose by them giving it a go.
  • "there is no automatic right of access to the recapitalisation scheme" - which is not what Burt and Mathewson have believed to be the case. Darling says that any institution applying for an injection of capital from taxpayers "must have a sustainable business model and delivery plan" and its "funding profile, sources and mix must be clear, broad-based and sustainable."
HBOS's own board determined that it flunked those tests, that the probable alternative to being taken over by Lloyds was full-scale nationalisation - hence its decision to agree to be taken over by Lloyds TSB.

About sums it up for me, I'd prefer a recovery if it were feasible but i've not heard of any plan to rival 1bn of cost savings per year.

Considering banks will be making less profit even if they make any so reducing costs seems a good plan, better then we can just carry on

That HBOS shareholders have an opportunity on December 12th to reject the Lloyds TSB Offer
The lloyds vote is in a couple of days and hbos is taking another month :/

...and HBOS share price 64p - was over £8 less than 12 months ago. No-one has done well out of this fiasco...except for a few who already have too much.

Sorry to sound bitter but a lot of people deserved a whole lot better from the people who were literally paid millions to manage our money.
