Sunday 1/06/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Hi Guys sorry for being very late today the site has been throwing me off when I tried to post but has finally let me in again:rolleyes:

Anyway today i have/will
  • Checked internet banking
  • Clicks
  • Storecupboard meals
  • Worked on veggie garden
  • bulk buy food shopping to avoid price increases
  • Fill up my car at the cheap garage
  • Do several errands in one trip to save on petrol use
Have a good day everyone.:D

    Hiya Sophiesmum,
At the minute it's tipping it down so I won't be going out in the garden as I'd planned! OH works weekends so I'll probably do some house cleaning and ironing instead. I plan to have a NSD but last time I said that on a post I ended up having to buy something from the corner shop.

Hope the weather's good enough where you are so you can look after your veggie garden.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • morning all! nice to have you back sophiesmum.

This weekend I have been quite good!
    I have
    • changed 2 lightbulbs for british gas free energy saving ones
    • repotted my chillis and moved my spinach outside, my kitchen looks really empty
    • used bicarb and white vinegar to unblock the sink (don't ask  ) but it makes a great fizz :D
    • used white vinegar mixed with water in a sprayer to clean shower screen (can you tell I've been lurking over on Old Style?! :p ) and neat vinegar to do bath and sink - that stuff is magic
    • line dryed 2 lots
    • done 2 piggy clicks
    • only spent 14 pounds last night on a massive night out - I can make a big glass of wine last an hour!
And today we are going to
    • bake bread - we have no breadmaker but OH has been wanting to for ages, so he can knead it!
    • only spend today on meat for roast tonight - we have all the veggies in
That's all I think! might think of more later

At first I really struggled to come up with anything to do today but then I remembered a couple of things. This thread's great as it really forces me to think about how I could be doing something to change my situation every day

    So, today I'm going to:
    * Ring O2 and give them my PAC code (have been putting this off for two weeks - don't know why as it'll save me £20-£25 per month)
    * Go through my Incoming Post tray and action any paperwork as necesary
    * Finish my housework

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

    Hi Everyone,

I'm sure I'm missing a few things out but here goes.
    - Check online banking
    - Sort out final part of 0% credit transfers
    - Do my budget for June
    - Wrap my eBay parcels that have definitely sold.
    - See if I can find a filofax holepunch so I can make my own diary sheets etc rather than have to buy them.
    - Start looking into our house insurance. I got it with the mortgage so I'm sure that there are better deals out there!

    Regards
