We tell them there's always a way out and point them to Martin's debt help article and the amazing support of the community using the Debt Free Wannabe board. Many of these people have reached that point through no fault of their own whatsoever. Those that have, know it and have the courage to admit it, in public, on this board.
Whatever the reason for them reaching that point there's absolutely no justification for this type of abuse. Please leave them alone. The last thing we ever want is for someone to have gone ahead with it because they felt they'd be abused.
Many thanks to all you DFW regulars here who are helping the newbies. You're stars!!

Big thanks to MSE Andrea for the sticky post, and a HUGE thanks to Pania for start the ball rolling!
Hopefully the newbie will see this and not be scared off by the sad little low-lifes!

I did not see what went on but i have experienced unhelpful judging comments on MSE and when in a vulnerable state these comments can play on your mind and these comments can become confusing.:(

Thanks Andrea for this thread.
thanks to Pania et al, for the troll patrol.
Whilst I have manageable debts I am about to go to a new country, and I have already not just gone for the bank with the shiny folder etc, I am going to research which is the best. Before this site I wouldn't have even thought about it.
As for trolls, well I think it has been said. There have been several people on here that you can tell are very close to the edge, that, had a troll had a go, mght have gone and done something very bad. So well done all for keeping the site as troll free and as welcoming as possible.

Well as usual it seems I've missed all the fun.... I like a bit of troll poking....preferably with a sharp stick.:D
Seriously though we all have our fiesty days and we all have our 'head bent low' days, but we're in it together which is what its all about, supporting, advising, sometimes laughing, sometimes crying at each other's posts on here.
Lets just keep on keeping on folks. xxx

indeed we are triker... i'm sad that we lost a newbie at the weekend as her first reply was a nasty comment, but the more people we can prevent from going that way the better
