Thank you.
I'm new here.
There have been a couple of occasions when I thought I might try to drink myself to death. It didn't work, my debts got worse, so now I'm facing up to them by trying to fight back. Its been one of the loneliest periods of my life, and I can fully understand how some people feel.
Thank you again and thanks for the replies on the bankruptcy forum.

We tell them there's always a way out and point them to Martin's debt help article and the amazing support of the community using the Debt Free Wannabe board. Many of these people have reached that point through no fault of their own whatsoever. Those that have, know it and have the courage to admit it, in public, on this board.
Whatever the reason for them reaching that point there's absolutely no justification for this type of abuse. Please leave them alone. The last thing we ever want is for someone to have gone ahead with it because they felt they'd be abused.
Many thanks to all you DFW regulars here who are helping the newbies. You're stars!!

Thanks for the message. Whatever the reason for their situation, some people have been struggling so long that they cannot see any way out when they first post here.
I am sure the emotional support and camraderie are as important as the practical advice in the first instance.
It does not matter whether the person is at the end of their tether trying to live on fresh air or needs to learn to live within their means, without this and the first hand experience, people would be less open to the remedies proposed. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I believe its people either having links to this site from other forums making these abusive remarks, or people coming on here trying to make themselves feel better in their lives by belittling others. Either way its disgusting some of the abuse some posters received.
Debt is a very emotive subject for some who really need the help and support of this board, not to be made to feel even further downtrodden.0 -
Well said Andrea.
Without this board and the support of the people here, I really don't know where I'd be, certainly saved my life and shown me that I shouldn't feel guilty about being in debt and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

applauds Andrea's post :T
As izzy says the fact that they have to abuse others makes them the biggest losers on earth!
Anyway, what goes around comes around!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0
