Firefox - pop up blocker add-on?

i use ff and i've never seen a pop-up (well, not for a long time). maybe the adblock plus with filterset g addon is sorting them? Or maybe its noscript? or maybe I just don't visit dodgy enough sites, though I doubt that

Another vote for Noscript here - I find it a joy to use and everything is easily undo-able and intuitive, well nearly! The only pain in the rse is sites like download.com where you have a huuuge list of domains and you have to click each one to find the culprit that is stopping you from the download. Saying that you can usually use your intuition to weed crappy sites...
I also can't remember when I last saw a popup!0 -
are the default settings for noscript good enough?? or, are there no 'default settings'?? i installed it previously and it did very little

erm...it needs turning on
on this page it is blocking google analytics (someone selling my clicks?) and addthis.com.
timesonline.com it blocks 4 sites (inc googlesyndication), plus the times
I can't be sure it is making a major difference above and beyond addblock plus and a decent hosts file, but something is working (I think, hard to be sure as I don't see adverts)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -

well, after a few days running, I can definitely recommend Adblock now: completely unobtrusive, does not hog memory, and - something I've noticed - if new pop-ups occur, if you 'update all subscriptions' on the filter list then these are black-listed for future reference...absolutely brilliant!:beer:BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? I use these 3 main ones, previously mentioned, and have been doing so for many years:
1. NoScript - there is nothing better, teach it about the sites you use, "allowing" sites you know are safe, and it is faultless, nothing makes browsing more secure.
2. AdBlock plus, great, simple and just works.
3. FlashBlock, always works, and you can give it a "safe" list of sites you always want to automatically display flash.0 -
^agreed. i did have noscript, then removed it. have difficulty 'teaching' it LOL: eg. on this site, I STILL used to get the annoying javascript adverts on the right-hand side of the page...
