I'm confused why people think this is such a good idea with companies like talktalk doing free landline calls 24 hours a day for effectively £2.99 per month! Talk3 = £7.99 per month but if you have line rental with them then you get £60 cashback every 12 months! So Unlimited free landline calls + line rental for 12.98 per month! :T

    This needs clarification see

Have to say I'm GLAD that as an early adopter I cancelled my pay monthly Freetalk service within 28 days.

The service in those first few weeks from the UK and from Italy was not totally reliable and they were clearly learning as they went along (eg their charges schedule went from 10 lines to about 10 pages!).

Their T&C's weren't as clearly written as one would like.

Support queries were sometimes answered promptly and efficiently and sometimes answered poorly and sluggishly, although always very politely.

The opportunity that would have made it a real MoneySaving idea had also become nagated - ie phoning back to the UK from Italy - as there was/is a new 5c/call service available instead - https://www.liberochiamate.it .

Their billing has also been inefficient - took them nearly 2 months to raise a bill for my 3 week membership and that showed a £23.99 cancellation fee - DESPITE being explicitly told in an earlier reply that no such fee would be charged if cancelling within 28 days! When I raised a billing query it wasn't until 2 reminders and nearly 4 weeks later that they actually got around to replying saying they will stand by their earlier statement of no fee and credit me the £23.99 back!

Was able to sell the £20 adapter on eBay for £16 so only lost a few quid on that.

All in all not an impressive service - can understand why DRG have not been promoting it much.

Lesson for anyone else trying it: make sure you 100% understand their T&C's before buying and get them to reply in writing clarifying any point you're not sure about.
