For those tempted to take TalkTalk 3 (all inclusive plan) with 1/2 price line rental should be aware of the following:-
More details here.
The other drawbacks (as mentioned elsewhere on this forum) are:-
- You only get your 1/2 price line rental at the end of month 12
- You then still have to remain with TalkTalk for your line rental for another 12 months.
More details here.
The other drawbacks (as mentioned elsewhere on this forum) are:-
- They could stop you from using another carrier (eg Call1899, etc) or charge you more if they wanted.
- Each individual call length cannot exceed 70mins otherwise you get charged.
- No free caller display like BT has.

Just want to mention that a TalkTalk representative mentioned to me yesterday that there are some new deals in the pipeline in the run up to Christmas but in my opinion as they are obviously pushing the line rental as bbb_uk says above, it could be that these deals will include line rental.
I would just add to bbb_uk list of drawbacks is that any line fault you would need to report to the company you pay your line rental to who in turn would then report to BT. As we often have problems with old cabling and old telegraph poles, line faults can be a major hassle.0 -
Some more things
(1)If you have call sign it does not support it.
(2) Bars intl calls to certain destinations.Eg.India,Russia.( May lift bar at their discretion.)
(3) If you move they will require you to take out a contract for a further 12 months,and pay any connection charges.
Bear in mind to benefit from the inclusive call package to 01/02 numbers you would have to be a very high user.
£7.99p a month would give you approximately 61 calls to 01/02 numbers a week on https://www.call1899.com ,and you dont have to pay it when you are not at home eg away on Hols.PF.0 -
Sorry just thought I'd update this slightly - there was such an uproar from CPW stores about this (almost underhand) offer, that talktalk have changed it and you DO NOT need to stay with talktalk more than 12 months to claim your £60 cashback! On top of that if you stay with talk3 and line rental you now get the £60 EVERY YEAR your with them essentially making it just £2.99 for unlimited calls to landlines 24 hours a day.0
-
Their website still contradicts itself I think:-
Their headline reads, "Half price line rental1 SAVE £158 a year!2 , unlimited landline calls and 2000 Nectar bonus points!"
Note condition 1 and 2.
T&C for condition 1 here does read that it is a continuous offer specifically3. Further Cashback payments will be made at the levels prescribed in paragraph 4 below (and otherwise in accordance with these terms and conditions) for each additional year that a subscriber continues to subscribe to the TalkTalk Service. All eligible subscribers will be contacted by us in the month immediately preceding the last month of each additional 12 month period and these terms and conditions shall apply to the payment of all additional Cashback amounts.4. £60 Cashback is available on a new subscription to Talk 3;
£40 Cashback is available on a new subscription to Talk 2; or
£25 Cashback is available on a new subscription to Talk 1;
subject to
T&C for condition 2 here is very worrying specifically because:3. £60 Cashback is available on a new subscription to Talk 3;
£40 Cashback is available on a new subscription to Talk 2; or
£25 Cashback is available on a new subscription to Talk 1;
subject to:
a. the subscriber remaining on the relevant tariff (or migrating to a higher tariff) for 12 months ("Initial Term");
b. the subscriber committing to remain connected to the relevant tariff (or to migrate to a higher tariff) for a further 12 months at the expiry of the Initial Term.0 -

Their are lots of suppliers who do cheaper Intl calls then TT,and their Options are dearer then other suppliers.You still cant beat a combo of 1899 and a free evening and weekend supplier.The reasons why you should not move your line rental to another supplier from BT have already been discussed a number of times on this site.PF.0 -
