SOA clicky?

Thanks. I'm glad the the calculator is getting well used. It was quite a challenge to write but I'm pleased with the result. The only problem I'm seeing is that some people choose the wrong format option or delete some of the important formatting tags before posting, which means the layout gets messed up. Nevertheless, it is the thinking that it provokes and the numbers that are produced that are more important than the layout.thanks, Clariman, for your help with the SOA - it seems to be working really well!

Maybe PM Mrs Tine, she is the BG for DFW and suggest it, shes a frequent poster too, so she may well see this thread tomorrow.
Frequent poster? Moi?
Ok ok let me get some clothes on and wake up with some breakfast an I'll see what I can do
So... linkies to the various SOA places and maybe the text for the one that SS originally wrote as well and an easy to dig out title... and then pin it.

Here is some input to the SOA Calculator piece if you want to use it. They are the words used for the calculator on The Motley Fool sticky equivalent (not my words, but they cover it well I think). Feel free to edit.A Statement of Affairs is a complete view of your current financial position. The calculator we use is here: http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html.
You list your income, expenditures and debts and the calculator adds them and summarises them. Do not put repayments for unsecured debts such as credit cards in your Expenditure section: these go in the Unsecured debts section.
If you then press the Format for MSE button, a new window will open with all your details formatted. Copy and Paste these into a post here. Don't worry if the formatting looks dreadful - it will be all right when it is posted!

Actually - lookign through the clicky's - would it help if I asked MSE Andrea to alter her post for newbies to include SOAs in the title and the link to the calculator? Just conscious that we have rather a lot of links and pinned threads that might be a bit much for newbies...

that may well be the best idea..it does look quite overwhelming:cool:Actually - lookign through the clicky's - would it help if I asked MSE Andrea to alter her post for newbies to include SOAs in the title and the link to the calculator? Even if her post could just be titled "where to start" it would be better...many newbies wouldnt understand all the things she mentions.:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
I don't think that the copyright would be a major issue. The wording was written by a TMF user rather than a TMF official. You are right that the legal position would be that TMF have copyright to what is posted on their website. However, the words used above were slighlty altered (I changed the word "TMF" to "MSE" obviously!) and it was only an extract. Feel free to paraphrase it though.Clariman I have to alter the text a little to avoid any possible moans about copy right but thank you! I'll squeeze as much as possible in!

I think it would make sense to have both. A general "Start managing your debt" post like MSE Andrea's is definitely needed but could be, in itself, a little overwhelming for some. Having a "How to create an SOA" sticky would be useful so that new users can easily find out how to create this fundamental part of any approach to debt management. This would then make the "SOA Feedback" thread superfluous as a sticky, so it would not add to the number of stickies.Actually - lookign through the clicky's - would it help if I asked MSE Andrea to alter her post for newbies to include SOAs in the title and the link to the calculator?
