Hi, i truly admire your thinking and in the way you are bravely seeking advice. This web site has clearly been developed for very good intentions and it seems it is winning regardless of all the ugly and selfish comments that arrive. Do what i have next time you get a rude response and that is research the sender! You will soon get to smell a rat and find out why they are so judgmental. Read Martin Lewis's statement on this. He needs lots of support himself to keep this site thing going. Perhaps when you have found your answers, and i hope you do, remember those that helped. I will

    :D If the cap fits ;) .
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Yvonneem: From what you have said your daughter will recieve a loan of about £2400 a year and a grant of £2700 (the grant does not have to be paid back).

This loan / grant is expected to pay for rent / keep so it would not be weird for you to ask your daughter to contribute to the household. Yes its great that some parents can afford to support their kids through uni, some cannot though.

If she has a part time job she will be able to afford this, trust me. I got the loan / grant but had outgoings of about £250 a month towards the household bills (lived with bf). I paid for this with my part time job (16 hours a week).

Maybe you could ask her to contribute?

Thanks artbreak and kr15. Firstly artbreak I did research the sender/senders and noticed a little pattern forming! omg how not suprised I was to find that they were claiming anything and everything and slating anyone else who dared to. I did also read Martins statement which I think many have not, perhaps he should read some of these threads himself, I think he'd be very shocked. Thanks for your support.

Kr15, my daughter has now sorted uni and has got all paperwork regarding grants/loans etc. She has decided to stay at home and go to uni in Notts because financially she will be a lot better off and so will I cos guess what, she is going to contribute! I'm sure she will but not when she goes away anywhere or spends the week with her friends. omg She has also been desperately trying to get a better part time job as she only has a few hours at a local restaurant which pays nothing. Her difficulty is that although the whole of Notts it seems, has her CV she never gets a look in. She's bright has A and B grades always, has work experience and yet no one is interested. Its really annoying when you have applied to say Next retail and say you can do any hours they require are really flexible etc to find a letter on your doorstep saying they don't want her cos she can't work the hours they require! Strange don't ya think?

Thanks for your help and I apologise for my long windedness
