I bought my daughter an ACER pc for around £220 from www.ebuyer.com. It has vista and a dual core processor.0 -

£199 excl VAT Nice one!
I bought a refurb Packard Bell from them several years ago. Never had a minute's bother with it.
I also bought two brand new Dells - one laptop, one desktop. Very disappointed with both - very sluggish and prone to crashing from day one.0 -

Does anyone have any pointers to non-Dell deals? Dell are all very well until you need to upgrade or replace any parts - they're notorious for using proprietary parts that cost the earth to replace. I remember being quoted £70 for a replacement Dell power supply about 10 years ago, at a time when a standard ATX power supply could be had for £15-20.
Wow a ten year old prejudice.
Back in this decade, thats not so much the case. I would have thought any upgrade route would be along the lines of RAM, HDD, processor, graphics card - all non proprietary. For parts, pretty much the same story. MoBo's would be proprietary, but not insurmountable.0
