me again :j
Right so I started Uni Monday, (Sheff Hallam). They haven't scanned the letter I got from StudentFinance or anything. They just said the loan should come through...
Is this right, I haven't received the loan yet, I thought that the letter needed to be scanned but according to the Uni this isn't the case..any ideas?
Thanks

Steven,
Some places dont scan, or even take a copy. The scanning or taking a copy is for their own records. As long as SHU inform the SLC of your enrolment (which they will do!) You should get your loan by the end of the week!
HTH.

Not to scare people, but in my first year I didn't get my loan until mid-November  , partly cos I went to my insurance, partly cos it was when they were piloting the online applications in my LEA. But I got it in the end! It seems that not going to your first choice can delay the system as a few of my friends have had probs.
Anyway, head down to your finance office and explain the situation. Now that Freshers' Week is over, they should have calmed down a bit and will seem more like humans, not scary robots!! They have seen hundreds in your situation and they know what you need to do to get it sorted. I was also offered a grant from the uni emergency funds for books, etc to help til my loan came through (which I wish I'd taken now!!) Obviously this depends on each uni.
Re your parents ringing up, it's Data Protection, they can't tell anyone else, but you're parents could always just ring and pretend to be you, all they need is your ART no.
Whitey - I havn't taken my letter in either. Looking back at the bumpf they sent me over the summer, I was supposed to post it to them (ooops) but I've received my loan fine this year
