When should my loan come through??

Hello there, first year at Uni, start on the 26th, I received the letter confirming the loan and they said they would send another within 14 days of the start of my course...but either I've mislayed it or it hasn't come.
I was wondering when most people were getting their loan paid into their accounts? I'm sure I read that it was on the first day of term, so for me it should go through Monday but I'm not completely sure...anyone shed some light on the situation?

Ok you should have got a letter that has bold lettering at the top (in red)
saying that you must take it to your uni registration (i got mine)
and first you need to take that letter to your registration so the uni can tell slc that you are infact a student there (and you have turned up) and slc should then release your funds and they should be with you within 3/4 working days (in your bank account)

This week they have been doing pretty well to be fair to the SLC. Enrolments done on Wednesday recieved their loans directly into the bank today.0

I went to my Uni on monday and they scanned my letter.
I then received the student loan in full in my account on the thursday.
I'd assume it would be the same for you but for whenever your uni starts

Brilliant, thanks for all your help! I just found the letter at this very moment, so I will keep it safe and take it to Uni Monday as you mentioned!
Thanks again!Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads:cool:0 -
Thats not fair!!! I started last monday and my LEA won't tell my mum anything and they haven't sent me anything but it's been 2 months since they got my application, and my uni wants proof of any reduction in my fees by the end of next week![FONT=georgia, bookman old style, palatino linotype, book antiqua, palatino, trebuchet ms, helvetica, garamond, sans-serif, arial, verdana, avante garde, century gothic, comic sans ms, times, times new roman, serif]A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it

They won't talk to your mum because the application is in YOUR name so YOU need to ring them. It's all part of being 18 and an adult, I'm afraid. When our son's notification came he had two copies of the letter saying how much he was getting, one for him / Uni and one to give to us. The only thing we received direct (ie not through our son) was something to say we could check how far his application had got if we logged onto some website.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I know but they only give you a national rate number which from a mobile is really expensive :-( and when my mum phoned the que to speak to an advisor was about 15minutes, but when I check my status they have been saying that I just need to sign the declaration on the phone butb online it says processing. They put me down as going to cardiff first time as well (which I'm not), and spelt my mum's name wrong in one part but right in another, bit disorganised in my area I think.[FONT=georgia, bookman old style, palatino linotype, book antiqua, palatino, trebuchet ms, helvetica, garamond, sans-serif, arial, verdana, avante garde, century gothic, comic sans ms, times, times new roman, serif]A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it

Ring your LEA direct rather than the national number which is for Student Finance Direct.0

If you go to student welfare they might take pity on you and let you call from their phones? Or go to the people demanding evidence of reduction, and say I don't know yet, can you phone and find out for me because I haven't had letter yet.mistyarthur wrote:I know but they only give you a national rate number which from a mobile is really expensiveSignature removed for peace of mind0 -
yeah everyone above is right. Registered on weds. Loan on friday.

if you haven't heard from your LEA yet they've probably stuffed up or lost your stuff. they often do. You must call them or you probably won't get anything for months!0
