It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

I'll have to have a big think about this. I love having a car and the freedom it gives me but what you are saying makes a lot of sense! :(

I'm gonna go through my clothes later and see if there's anything I can sell.

I've just changed my mobile tariff to £25 a month which will start mid-June. My contract runs out in December so I'll wait for a bit before a threaten to quit to another provider.

I know you love your car, but you need to be able to think beyond now and into the future. If you keep the car, you'll spend the next 2 years getting more and more into debt, and perhaps have very little to show for it at the end. If you sell the car, you may lose SOME freedom (public transport in a city isn't THAT bad!), but in 2 years time, you'll be debt free, have some cash in the bank, and can buy yourself another car!! And without car payments, you'll perhaps be able to enjoy more of a social life, as it'll take some pressure off the debt!

I suggest you do some research on the cost of a yearly public transport card, then do two spreadsheets, one showing debt/spending when owning the car, and the other showing without. It might help you work out what's best to do for you!!

Well done with the mobile phone tariff!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

    please keep posting

I'll definately research it and see whats what, been looking for ticket costs on the train but haven't found anything yet. Depends when the trains run as well as I sometimes I start work at 3am and can be as late out as midnight. I agree though an extra £300 that I'm currently paying on a car would help get rid of my debt a lot quicker!
