Well,
Am truly gutted. Bought a Sony DPP EX55 photo printer about 18 months ago. As with most things it got used for about 2 weeks then put away in a cupboard
Fact is we now have a 4 week old baby and so the printer, or so we thought would come in handy to send photo's of little un back to family at home
all was well, got the printer out, set it up.....nothing!, well, I say nothing, it just keeps coming up with a dye ribbon or paper fault !!!
Rang sony, possibly only a couple of quid to fix it...well this was after I changed both the print ribbon and a new set of paper! sony's answer..."that will be £170 + VAT for a quarenteed repair!!!! it wasnt bloody that expensive to buy new!!
Anyway, top and bottom is I am now looking for a new photo printe and again turn to the forum for advice on what & where to buy?
Cheers in advance. If it helps I run a sony digital camera and memory stick
Regards
Pete

Hi
Iv'e been using an epson R300 for two years now and would highly recommend it. It produces great photo's and you can print directly from memory card (including MS and MS Pro) so no need to go through the PC.
It also uses seperate ink carts for each colour which I buy on ebay for about £10.00 for a full set of 6 inks so it works out cheap to run.
Hope this helps"Gort, klaatu barada nikto"

whatcha,
Thought there might have been a bigger response by now?
forgot to mention, the printer MUST be portable, so we can print on the move if required...when i say on the move....when away visiting
Cheers

I use my Sony Cybershot p120 digital camera all the time. For the same reasons as most, I looked into getting a photo printer. After a lot of research I have found that I get a much better deal by taking a disc in to Boots. It costs a fiver for 50 digital photos(6x4). I just got 200 7x5 photos done and they charged £14. With the cost of photo paper, ink and time spent doing it all, this is a huge saving. Just drop the disc off and come back 24 hours later. The best deals are for the more prints you buy (50 or more).
Good luck.To win a competition gives you the spirit to carry on (Comping).0 -
yes dont bother with photo printer we bought one cost about 180 pounds last a year with no use .:j0

photo printers that you are refering to aren't that popular no matter how hard the manufacturors try to push them, which is good for you because they often have sell offs cheaply.
In the mean time savastore has some good looking ones

I agree with everone saying not to get one - the ink and paper work out as expensive as printing as Asda or Boots, and the quality is not as good. Asda do it for about 10p a print and they're done in an hour so you can leave it while you get your shopping. I'm sure large Tescos probably do something similar.0

Cheers for all the replies / responses
Reason we would like a portable photo printer is that we live away from family across the other side of the country. We have recently had a baby so wish to take photo's of her to send back home
Would also be ideal for when on the odd occasion we get to go home to visit to be able to take the printer with us to print them as we take them
Our shortlist is
lexmark
HP
Sony
Epsom
How do people rate these and whaich is the best to get and where?
cheers
