Many thanks for those insights, certainly will look to continue, but this week OH was unexpectedly admitted to hospital so I'm rushing round trying to sort things out, get dd looked after etc. Hope that OH may be allowed home tomorrow.

So, to all, I apologise now if there is limited activity on my part here, but that said I may well cancel my business trip over next two weeks, so you may get a little more than was anticipated.

Thanks for the kind thoughts; just to add to the issues our fridge failed Sunday night and I can't arrange repair until I know where we'll be.... it all comes at once!

Hope your wife gets out of hospital soon and recovers well. Bummer about the fridge and hopefully you can survive the remainder of the week without one before it gets repaired.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. OH is now back this evening very tired but happy to be home. Infection brought about the development of asthma (not been a sufferer before) and was on oxygen from Monday until Wednesday PM. I'm not traveling abroad as planned (obviously!) until I am certain she is able to be home alone.

DD has been great this week, really risen to the challenge and not moaned too much about being up at 0615 to be breakfasted and in school uniform for 0645 to be at a neighbour so I could get on the road to work. However, I was not sure she would be so quick on Friday. Quite a contrast to her younger days but with the earlier sunrise it should improve. I found it tricky just having to change my morning routine and not being able to leave for work at 0600, let alone not starting until 0725 - practically mid-morning in my book :D

So that leaves the fridge to be sorted out and SpecSavers who have again messed up the lens prescription on my glasses (I won't bore you with details ).

On the MSE front, OH pay should be in the account tomorrow but even with credit card payment leaving account today it seems we're still net positive! However, I pulled £801 from savings to OP into mortgage so her overtime payment will come in handy to replenish savings which should have been increasing faster than they have.

Today Warren Buffet has been noting "cash is king" and even when investing he keeps plenty in resevere (US$20bn) as his emergency fund.... doesn't want to rely on "friendly" banks :rotfl::rotfl:
We will continue our investments as planned, and I hope to find some time to read Money Observer for March in detail; good review of some ISAs etc and comments on funds, some of which are now in our portfolio. Then I think I will subscribe to it.

Hope to catch up on your threads over the next few days.
