Just £19250 to go and with the OP and planned savings we should hit 100% offset by June, build a cushion above this and pay off in October. It will leave us very low in cash savings but that should quickly recover. A lot is riding on pulling savings round now ahead of the remaining holiday cost to be paid in late April too. I've only now changed the signature to reflect the target date - so fingers crossed :think:0 -
....but, maybe if Jaguar want to knock 50% off a new XF (they do want sales don't they?) I could get one tomorrow with that score!

Dare you, Stuart, dare you
As Mrs Doyle would say......... Go on go on go on go on go on ............ :rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Apparently it has never been a better time to buy a new car. I have been told by a reliable source that 50% discounts are currently available (not on any cars I would like, I think Dodge were one brand), although they are unlikely to be around beyond the next 6 months, once car manufacturers sort out their current cash crisis. My Mum told me that Mercedes were doing a 2 for 1 deal on one particular model.
So it might be worth checking it out? Or would it be opening a can of worms?0 -

That would be very problematic; it would mean not achieving MFD as at 50% the XF is still anywhere from £19-24k depending on the specification.... but if that sort of deal is really available then that would be excellent value!
....now I'm in a dilemma!
but fear not, OH will have a short sharp answer (I think) for this idea :rotfl:0 -
I have a confession; I've spent £5.95 just for the hell of it
:o:o:o
We have the Experian CreditExpert service thrown in "free" with our DirectLine home insurance. So you get chance to see records, few updates etc but to get your credit score you have to pay.... I've held back since September "knowing" it would be fine, but today just had to give in out of curiosity
Well surprise, surprise on a 1-999 scale I got 999; perhaps they give you this number in case you get hoards of poor bankers beseiging the house trying to sell you loans as you are such a "good risk" and you need police help?:rotfl:

OK, feeling suitably chastised, hope this improves my standing....
Mortgage end of Feb was £19251.43, with scheduled payment on Monday of £450 (comprising £253 minimum repayment, plus £197 OP) leaving £18801.43 owing. I have recently been augmenting this with a further £200 each month giving a total payment of £650, so it would have left the mortgage at £18601.43
Whilst we are offset, the interest incurred isn't impacted by the OP, but of course the capital outstanding is. So I ran the numbers and as you know have been unhappy that extra costs have impacted on the £912 per month target for savings. Only managed to save £701 in February (plus the £300 into the S&S ISAs of course). However, that still gave a healthy savings balance, so I was pondering what to do next.
Well, after a bit of thought I decided to pull the mortgage down to £18k so transferred the money online so a total contribution of £1251 paid in against the mortgage this month (equivalent to an OP of £998 or 3.94x the monthly minimum payment).
So mortgage stands at £18000.43 :j:j:j
(Interest mid-month will add a few pounds and pence hence the 43p doesn't bug me, but our savings account must remain in whole pounds!)0 -
Fantastic news, I couldn't be doing with the odd pence though!0

PS the odd pence wouldn't bother me if my mortgage was that low either:rotfl:MFW - We've only gone and blooming done it!May 2013:j0
