Kwik Fit want to charge £75 to re-do the front brake pads on a small car.

That seems a bit steep, but they do say that for as long as I own the car, they'll replace them whenever they run out.

That sounds like a great deal, its an automatic, so the brakes don't last so long with city driving.

I know this company can be a bit 'difficult' and they've tried to over-charge me and hve been quite dishonest in the past, other times they've been fine.

This seems like a good deal.

Is it?

Cheers

    PS

There's about 2.5mm left on the front brakes, how many miles would that normally last in City driving?

    Yet you go back?

It's a good deal if you intend to keep the car, most people change the pads once in the lifetime of owning a car and don't benefit from it.

Go to your local independant bloke and ask him to change the pads for you, it'll be a lot cheaper!

Kwik Fit are renowned for telling you something needs replacing, whatever you go in for. They then overcharge you for it, but not enough that you can be bothered to go elsewhere.
  • No it isn't a good deal. Go to a garage you can trust.

Or if so inclined get a haynes manual and have a go yourself.

I think you have answered the question yourself. Do not trust Kwikfit!

Go round a few local garages and get some quotes or even better ask some mates if they know anyone.

As mentioned your FREE brake pads will turn into discs/tracking/tyres/suspension and soon a bill for £250..!! all for your 'free' pads.

    Go elsewhere.

i think the replacements are on the condition you accept any extra repair options , and like they mention above they will find 101 other faults to rip you off

find a honest local mechanic , or have a go with the haynes
