I have a o2 contract through carphone warehouse which has now expired, I have just signed up for a new contract with o2 direct through their website, I rang o2 as I wanted to have my number transferred from my old phone but I have been told I have to obtain my pac code??

I thought as I was an o2 customer already then I wouldnt have to do this but I have been told as I am with carphone warehouse I have to obtain a pac code.

I ring cpw and have now been told I have to write in to obtain pac??? I was under the impression that you can obtain your pac over the phone plus I was made to feel like I was comitting a crime by leaving them, so I also asked to speak to complaints but apparently I have to write into them too !!

Can anyone offer any advice or is there a way around this, any help is appreciated

They will argue that it's for security.

In fact, it's to try and dissuade you from leaving - they'll try every tactic in the book until you're gone!

There used to be a time when you could ask for your PAC over the phone and have it read out to you there and then (having gone through security). But increasingly now they'll only send it in the post, and obviously CPW have gone a step further...

You'll just have to follow the rules - write in, get your PAC and off you go :)

the best of luck to you!! I have been trying to get my PAC from CPW since 26th April. I posted my letter, recorded delivery with the DRN that they gave me and it was signed for on 29th April. I have phoned them about 6 times since. Every time, they have said that they havent had anything from me, apologised and said I will receive it within 5 days. I have taken every name that of who I have spoken to and their extension numbers. I have left messages on their extensions (well one cause the others didnt work!) and have still not had it through. The number is going to be pretty pointless now as I have been using another number since 26th April. I also cancelled my DD last month as they were still sending me bills even though I had cancelled my account. Funnily enough, I have had a letter about that though! I would never ever use CPW again.
