Would you consider switching to a scooter if petrol prices go much higher? They were very popular in the 60s.

I used to ride a 125 bike on a long commute, it was very draining but quite cheap.
If I was to ever change to a local job I'd probably buy another but for anything with long stretchs of NSL road I'd not bother again.0 -
If I didn't get aq company car I'd seriously consider one of the modern larger engined scooters. Maybe something like a Suzuki Burgman 200 or 400. I do 20 miles each way so would need something with a bit of power and reasonable comfort. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
You'd need to make fuel a lot more costly before you ever make even think of getting on 2 wheeled machines.
Have you noticed all that other traffic out there...scaryyyyyyyyyyyy!!

I ride a pushbike on the road so a scooter would seem a lot safer! It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Have seen a motorcyclist taken clean off his bike and saw it coming a few seconds before, suppose it only takes a motorcyclist to overtake dangerously when someone is waiting to turn right and driver not to look in their mirror/blindspot.
My main concern would be falling off really, I don't think my balance is good compared to other people's, and was crap at PE at school etc. The idea of going around a corner and leaning, therefore, doesn't appeal to me all that much. A motorcycle is a definite no. I'm ok on a push bike, but don't know if that's quite the same as a scooter.0 -
Considering I get just short of 60MPG out of my Mondeo which is warm and dry in winter and airconditioned and flyproof in summer, no.0

I wouldn't consider it. Too many idiots on the road that make it hazardous. My best friend was injured in his 20s by someone pulling out on him. Then last year the same thing happened again. He's now 40 and realises that being fodder isn't the same when he now has 3 kids to support. Scooter sold and brand new car on the drive from the insurance payout. The man without a signature.0

Just too dangerous, more so than a decent bike IMHO, you just get missed/not seen.
The bikers phrase for it is Smidsy, sorry mate i didn't see you:eek:
Best a scooter will get is probably 90mpg, a frugal modern car car approach 70 and keep you warm and dry and alive.
Sorry, no contest for me.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
