Have recently changed to a forwardcellular deal for my wife and I (thanks to advice here especially from allthatmullarky)
Now my son wants a Nokia 6230!
Current phone is an O2 PAYG
Main use is texts at about £60 pm at 12p per go, with about £10 on voice.
I'm looking for a deal that an 18 year old non mathmetician can understand so that I don't need to bail him out (thats why he is on PAYG at the moment ;))

I'd be grateful for any ideas :)

  • Good choice of mobile the 6230........but for texting that much I'd a thought a handset dedicated to texting would be a better Idea.

    6230 is tiny

    good luck

free on contract with £19  a month line rental includes 50minutes any time xnet work minutes and 500 text messages, All though its contract as its online you can keep an eye on his usage incase he runs up the bill TOO much.

hes spending £60 per month now on texts!!!! is that including 02's 300 free texts per month?? WOW

you can get a brand new 6230 for under £200 on payg
use an o2 300x3oo sim and you get 300 texts a month for £10 topup per month and you still got £10 credit to use for calls
  • I was also in the same dilema for my daughters phone. Eventualy found O2 did a 12 month contract for £19/month which includes 500 txts per month and 50 any time xnetwork mins per month. Previously had the O2 PAYG sim with the free 300 free txts, but this means I have upgraded to the 6230 for £9 extra /month. I have not had to pay out money upfront for the phone and I get 200 more txts per month and probaly more call time than with the old £10 on PAYG.
Also applied through greasy palm to get their cash back.
I think this deal is only available on the O2 webb site. ;D ???

it is, as its an online account you can keep a check on the bill anytime if youre worried they may run up a HUGE bill also.

Thanks for all the good ides.
Certainly watching out for the HUGE bills is important.
Why do teenagers think the £££ grow on trees especially with phones, or am I just turning into an old f*rt?

The o2 online is a good set up, the phone is free, 500 texts should be plenty for the month, 50 minutes x net work anytime isnt too bad, so really the bill should just be the £19 pound a month. which works out as £228 pound for the phone, up to 6000 texts, up to 600 minutes. i bet the phone on PAYG wouldnt be that far away from that figure.

I know what you mean about kids and £s.. My daughter is 11 and moaning her phone is out of date and she wants a new one!! 11!!! she should be lucky shes got a mobile at that age!!!
