Should I get a water meter?

Hi,
I am thinking about getting a water meter. My landlord is happy to have one fitted, but he seems to think it would mean paying a lot more for water?

I am in a small 2 bed flat (2 people living here). The rateable value is £266, and for a year sewerage it comes to £310 and incoming water is around £109. The place is usually only occupied evenings and weekends. As for water usage, on average 2 showers per day, 6 or 7 loo flushes (I *think* it's the euro smaller style cistern), washing up every day (no dish washer). Generally don't leave water running while brushing teeth etc.

Surely I could save some money on this? Any advice appreciated

    Depends where you live!

The average consumption for 2 people is between 100 and 120 cubic meters a year. Many people say they use far less if they are out all day.

Look at the website for your company and work it out using that consumption.

I suspect that with a RV of £266 you will make considerable savings. However if you don't make any savings you have 12 months to revert back to charges assessed on your RV as before.

So you have nothing to lose.
