I am trying my hardest... think I am addicted to Airwaves black mint, but at 80p a day so far, I think it's worth it and much cheaper than those cigarettes and I can breath and tast things and smell my perfume... which is a bonus!

Well, can't find this thread for today, so I'll add on here too.

    Today I:
    * am getting the bus to and from town using the free bus pass
    * am going to spend some vouchers that I have
    * have a little bit of shopping to do and a list to stick to
    * no fag buying
    * no gum buying - seems like I have the wrigley's factory going on at mine!
    * will spend some time working on my nvq later
    * got some washing on at 30 degrees

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

I can't find today's thread either so thought I'd post on here until someone tells me it's right under my nose :).

Today I've already taken a few baby steps:
    * made a fantastic butternut squash soup from scratch that will freeze for packed lunches in the week
    * made a loaf of bread to slice up and put in the freezer
    * been to the library (ok, I had a few fines to pay but it's still a hell of a lot cheaper than buying books from Amazon!)
    * bought a small bar of chocolate instead of the family-sized bar I normally buy
    * Started reading a couple of books on how to manage money properly!
    * Stopped myself from spending lots of money on flowers: can't afford it this week.

    This afternoon I will:
    * Reconcile MS Money with my bank statement for the past week
    * Update my online spending diary

Unfortunately I know I'm going to be spending a lot of money over the next week or so. I ended up spending £20 today on special lightbulbs for the kitchen (grrrr) and have to purchase a wedding present this afternoon. I also need to buy a dress for the wedding as the only dress that vaguely fits me at the moment is at the dressmaker's being altered; I had hoped that it would be ready by now but it's not :) For the first time ever I actually thought to look in the charity shop this morning to see if they had anything suitable but all the dresses were for skinny minxes. So it's off to the department store later in the week to find something. I don't suppose there are any sales on at the moment?

    Hi Everyone,

There is so much good stuff going on today. And very well done:T :T to CrawleyGirl on the cigarettes - it does get easier as each day passes and a packet of chewing gum a day is nothing compared to being a chimney.

I've done some fairly big money saving things today so am well pleased with myself.

    1) Spent the time doing the calculations about our water usage. We can save 25% of the bill if we switch to a meter so I've set that in motion.

    2) Got rid of my fee charging bank account and replaced it with one that is free to have.

    Have a nice evening everyone.
