I have tried not taking the lid off but it is still sharp and jagged. I suppose though if everyone did the same as me a lot of aluminium would be wasted.
are you sure its aluminium? 3 piece cans are usually tin not aluminium. therefore not recyclable0 -

My daughter does that and it pigging annoys me
She gives the can a quick rinse , so I take the lid off and give it a proper rinse. Can't be throwing it in the bin with half a tin of soup or beans in it
I sound anal now don't I?:rotfl:

yup anal!
plus it is easier to leave the lid attached than take the lid off.0 -
Yes, I mean cans like tuna fish cans, tins of tomatoes, kidney beans etc. They are aluminium but need to be opened with a tin opener. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I rinse out the tins as well but we must be wasting a lot of water doing that. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

trust me i've done a packaging course. this was brought up. a lot of companies label stuff wrong for recycling purposes.0 -
Erm are you saying that tins of tomatoes etc arent aluminium? In that case Ive been wrongly recycling them. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

We use the lids as frisbies in Manchester. Don't think you can be that for recycling. After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. Such is life.0

I might be slightly exaggerating when I say half a can left  She just doesn't rinse to my high standards
It seems easy enough to me to take the lid off , but she seems to find it impossible to do itWeakling!
