You can travel easily from Ireland to UK and vice versa.
Been going on for years otherwise England would have had no motorways.

I'd suggest the upgraded roads through scotland were to accomodate traffic to and from northern ireland through to the rest of the UK, not because of traffic from the republic, which would predominantly be to holyhead in wales.

I'd think our english colleagues would have built the m1 and m6 anyway, irrespective of traffic from the republic or Northern Ireland.

I think you'll find he meant the motorways were mostly built by Irishmen ;-)

I have both passports, i use them depending on where i am travelling. Also, the Irish one will let you choose what name you want on it, whereas my UK passport has my full name. I "go" by my middle name, so it's handier for me to use as ID.

Oh thanks for that Panda! I use my middle name and so does my youngest so that would be very handy.

I can understand why someone living in the north might want an irish passport, either to save money or make some sort of statement, but why, living in england, would you want an irish passport for your uk born kids, or was it a hypothetical question?
